Radio Gwendolen is just one of the UK’s 300 hospital radio stations. We are a member of the Hospital Broadcasting Association. There are approximately 11,000 volunteers involved every week in providing entertainment to those in hospital, making it one of the largest voluntary organisations in the UK.

We at Radio Gwendolen are always looking for volunteers to help in all manner of tasks to keep our services running, whether that be ward visiting, engineering, marketing, fund raising to presenting and producing our programmes and roadshows.

It is a common fact that if you are looking for a career in the media, most prospective employers look for hospital or community radio as the main source of experience. At Radio Gwendolen we understand this, and try to give all our members as much exposure to the skills required. In fact, many of our members have gone onto successful radio careers following their time at Radio Gwendolen (Lee James BBC Radio 5, Mark Hayman BBC Radio, Dave Wilcocks Northants Radio Supergold, Bruce Hurst, Darren Harte Connect FM, Ian Sharpe Connect FM and others).

As a voluntary service we appreciate any time you can give, and whilst we all work very hard we also have a great deal fun too!
