The Broom Cupboard Years 1975-1980

After the success of the initial broadcasts that were relayed to the wards on a tape machine, the hospital kindly gave Radio Gwendolen the green light to start live broadcasts from a small studio situated in a room under the stairs near the renal ward.

The room has previously been used as a cleaners store, so we really were coming live from 'the broom cupboard'.

The WRVS made monies available to purchase a couple of Garrard 401 turntables and a mixing desk and the other equipment required to start live request shows.
