The New Studio 1980

In 1980 radio gwendolen moved to a new studio location based in an annexe off the side of the old Ward 14 (now the Emergency Medical Unit).

Once again the WRVS donated monies to buy some much needed up to date equipment including new turntables and a new mixing desk.

Original founders "Lovejoy and Smith" are pictured at the opening of the new studio along with station manager Andy Smith.

Studio Improvements Late 1980s

In the late 1980s a new stadio mixer was purchased ad the station started to use NAB cartridge players for the first time to play jingles and station promos.

The picture shows presenter Rosemary Hill drinking the health of the station during the first marathon broadcast arranged in 1987.

Rosemary went on to a career in the BBC education sector.
